Welcome to the China Competence Center of Clausthal University of Technology!

China is one of the most important partner countries of the Clausthal University of Technology. A broad network with Chinese partners exists already. China has developed more dynamically in the past decades than any other country all over the world. According to the Federal Foreign Office, more than 5.000 German companies are currently represented in China, anyway 900 Chinese corporations in Germany. The economy demands young people who aren’t only familiar with engineering sciences, but also with the culture and everyday life of China. Against this background, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is pursuing the goal of “expanding and consolidating German-Chinese cooperation in education and research”, according to former Federal Minister Johanna Wanka (February 2013 to March 2018). Therefore, the expansion of a broader China competence is necessary at the Clausthal University of Technology.

Summer School with Scholarship in Chengdu, China

This year, Sichuan University in Chengdu is once again inviting international participation in its University Immersion Program.

From June 30th to July 13th, 2024, the annual two-week summer program, held since 2012, offers academic and cultural exchange opportunities for professors and students from around the world. An attractive accompanying program to historical and cultural attractions and World Heritage Sites (e.g., Buddhist and Taoist temples, and a panda research and breeding center) completes the Summer School experience. The goal of the event is to bring together students from around the world, to make contacts and form friendships, thereby promoting global awareness and intercultural communication. Knowledge of Chinese is not required, as the program is conducted in English.

For Bachelor's and Master's students of TUC, SCU offers a total of 15 scholarships, which include:

  • Airfare reimbursement up to ¥3,000/person
  • Accommodation for 2 weeks at ¥150/person/day
  • Living allowance of ¥65/person/day
  • Insurance premium of ¥200/person
